When I sought the Lord for the 2024 “WORD,” as usual, He had a funny way of revealing it to me. But once I spent some time pressing in and praying about it, I understood it to be the most serious matter of His heart.
That’s why I am humbled to proclaim to you: 2024 will be the year of profound personal LIBERTY!
While many have no problem desiring and expecting LIBERTY for their country (and it’s coming like never before!), they actually have a hard time receiving it for themselves. But choosing to believe in this liberation is truly the difference between experiencing LIFE (Salvation) or DEATH (tyranny).
That’s because Jesus Himself IS our LIBERTY. And apart from Him we remain imprisoned, enslaved and in bondage in one way or another to one thing or another. Interestingly enough, the first mention of LIBERTY in the Bible is in Leviticus 25:10:
“And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim LIBERTY throughout all the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee for you; and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family.”
While it’s no coincidence this very verse is inscribed on the Liberty Bell, the meaning of LIBERTY in Hebrew (deror) denotes, not a ringing of freedom, but a flowing river of it!
A Jewish Jubilee would occur once every 50 years (after 7 cycles of 7 sabbatical years). Beginning on Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) the Jubilee year called for all slaves to be set free! A shofar was to sound proclaiming a year of REST from working the land and forgiveness of all personal debts, including a return of property and possessions lost.
And yet there’s no record in the Old Testament of Israel actually observing the year of Jubilee. As a whole, they didn’t see their Salvation (Jesus) nor choose to enter His Rest. His very Covenant-signature (אֵת) is even strategically placed in the Jubilee verse.
But when Jesus entered the synagogue, in Luke chapter 4, He opened the scroll and began to read from Isaiah 61:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, and He has anointed me to be hope for the poor, healing for the brokenhearted, and new eyes for the blind, and to preach to prisoners, ‘You are set free!’ I have come to share the message of Jubilee, for the time of God’s great acceptance has begun.” Luke 4:18-19 TPT
Jesus was proclaiming that He Himself IS the fulfillment of Jubilee and only in Him can one experience True LIBERTY! One of the definitions of the Hebrew word deror is “a flowing of pure myrrh” used for anointing oil. The anointing oil destroys heavy yokes (Isaiah 10:27).
Myrrh was an aromatic perfume prepared for the anointing of Jesus in His burial. It always speaks of His death on the cross. Only through His death do we find LIBERTY! Only from His suffering can we receive the flow of His Spirit, Shalom-wholeness and free favors!
When Jesus declared LIBERTY while reading the Word of Isaiah, He defined it in the Greek as “the forgiveness and pardon of all sins – letting them go as if they had never been committed!”
This is the LIBERTY that ushers in all other freedoms! This is what the Lord Jesus is proclaiming to you once again: “YOU ARE FORGIVEN!” His blood is the flow so you can let go!
“But when the time of fulfillment had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law. Yet all of this was so that he would redeem and set free those held hostage to the law so that we would receive our freedom and a full legal adoption as his children. Now we’re no longer living like slaves under the law, but we enjoy being God’s very own sons and daughters! And because we’re his, we can access everything our Father has—for we are heirs because of what God has done!” Galatians 4:4-5, 7 TPT
Once you believe your Father relates to you according to your flawlessness in Christ, you can expect to experience monumental deliverance from the shame, guilt and feelings of unworthiness you’ve been held captive to.
If you have been in a prison of “performancism” (trying to be a perfect Christian, trying to do it all, or trying to be pleasing to God), prepare to be delivered from the heavy yoke of religion, striving and accusation from the enemy (which comes from being under the law). Only then can you enter into His Rest and enjoy your relationship with Him!
If you’ve been shackled in the dungeon of depression, discouragement or dispair, see Jesus shattering the chains of pain and trauma with His loving presence. He will be your open door into new hope-filled spaces and healing graces!
By faith, the Lord is bringing a great emancipation from whatever it is holding you in bondage. Are you bound by worry, fear or anxiety? Have you been limited in your finances? Perhaps it’s a relationship issue or struggle with your spouse or child. Maybe it’s an addiction you feel you’ll never be free from or a health condition that seems to never cease.
Beloved, believe the battle is the Lord’s and that this year He is rushing in like a flood to loose you from those lies with His resurrection life! It will not happen by your power or might, but only by surrendering and saying ‘yes’ to His Spirit.
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty [emancipation from bondage, true freedom].” 2 Corinthians 3:17 AMP
It is even the Father’s heart to supernaturally cancel personal financial debt this year. So be bold in asking Him to do this and thank Him it’s already done!
I also see Holy Spirit releasing fresh creativity, wisdom, excellent ideas and a flow for unfinished projects along with the resources and angelic assistance. So now’s the time to call those things that don’t yet exist as though they do! (Romans 4:17).
While this year will not be free from challenges and storms, choosing to embrace the mystery of His Sovereignty by trusting in Him with all your heart will cause you to truly live and stand fast in the LIBERTY of His unshakable love!
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” Galatians 5:1 NKJV
Decree with me:
Daddy God, because You did not spare Your own Son, but delivered Him up for me, You will with Him also freely deliver me from every bondage and every hindrance bringing me into deeper intimacy with You so I can enjoy every heavenly blessing You have for me. I receive my LIBERTY this year. I receive your unconditional love. I receive your unchanging acceptance. I receive your undeserved grace. In Jesus’s matchless name! Amen!
