- I will be reposting this November 21, 2020, as that is the Gregorian calendar date the Mayflower compact was signed, however, it was the 11th on Britain’s Julian calendar) *
Today marks the the 400th anniversary (Biblical significance) of The Mayflower Compact.
The Mayflower Compact was the covenant and self-governing agreement signed by the Pilgrims (those faith-filled gospel pioneers along with some non-believers) on November 11, 1620 (on Britain’s Julian calendar) aboard their ship before setting foot on American soil.
It is truly the foundational contract that set the precedent for the United States Constitution (of the people, by the people, for the people). But first and foremost it was the declaration of their call to advance the Christian Faith!
“In the name of God, Amen…
Having undertaken for the Glory of God, and Advancement of the Christian Faith, and the Honour of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia; do by these presents, solemnly and mutually in the Presence of God and one of another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil Body Politick, for our better Ordering and Preservation, and Furtherance of the Ends aforesaid;…”
These brave Separatists who broke away from the religious control of the church in England, knew the Word of Jesus Christ and the gospel was for all men. They believed in our God-given freedoms and set out to pioneer Truth in a new land to preserve them!
Make no mistake, the Lord who called, graced and anointed these men and women to make the near-impossible voyage out of oppression and into a new and free “promised land,” for the sake of the gospel (Mark 16:15), is the same Lord of all Who is bringing everything full circle!
America belongs to Jesus. And He will never forget His people who believed Him, loved Him and ushered in a glorious nation unlike any other in the world.
All that America stands for, all that the Constitution protects and all that the Victory of the cross paid for will be upheld in this hour…One Nation Under God, for the Glory of God and In The Name of God, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen!
Resting In His Love,
